Key Features of plastic shredding – How to Select the Right Plastic Shredding Machine

Roll packer is the compaction drum used to compact waste in an open container. It reduces the disposal or logistic costs by up to 80% and reducing the emission of Co2 up to 80%. It helps breaking up the compact wastes easily and efficiently. This roll packer will also eliminate the need of disposal trip by 4 or 5 times.

Plastic shredding is used to turn plastic scraps or components into a commodity, which can be recaptured and used in manufacturing processes. Be it PET bottles, plastic containers, Vinyl, long strips or other types, it is possible to configure and manage the scraps to make it into a reusable component through the recycling process. However, equipments required for plastic shredding may vary with type and size of plastic scraps.

Different Types of Plastic Shredding

There are different types of industrial shredders available to perform various functions. The internal mechanical process of shredders includes, grinding, cutting, hammering, compression and more. There are also shredders incorporating sorting and shaking mechanisms.

The internal machines of the shredders travel in lateral, rotary or in vertical directions. The speed of the machines also varies according to the materials. The plastic shredding machines are categorized into different types based on the process they involve and they include:

Grinders: Grinders are combined with compression and use abrasion to pulverize materials. They are used for producing granular products. Components like plates, wheels and drums are also used in this process. The machine may function at low or high speed based on the material types they are designed for.

Chippers: Chippers features high speed rotary knives. These knives can reduce material to chips or flakes. It is also possible to feed chippers manually or automatically. They may also be multiple or single stage machines and employ multiple or single drums or wheels with single or more knives.

Granulators: Granulators are used to recycle plastic from production process such as, injection molding. Knives are used in these units to make fine particles, which can be reused in production lines. The Granulators also include Thermoforming units, which can produce scraps that can be easily handled. The Granulators differ in size and in their mechanism based on the industry and material types.

Hammer mills: Hammermills are used for pulverizing or shattering materials and the common configuration of hammer mills is chamber with rotary drum and swivelling hammers of hard ended chain. Chambers are gravity fed and the particle size produced is controlled by the output screens. The configuration, rotation speed and distribution of the hammer material determines the material type that can be processed.

Some of the other types of Plastic shredding machineries are:
Shear Shredders:  They employ guillotine style knives and rotary cutter to cut materials. Shears are found in different configurations according to industrial requirements.
Speciality shredders: This type is designed for a specific material type and may involve the combination of other processes. Shafts of these shredders rotate at low speed at very high torque.
All-purpose shredders: This type is also used for demolition operations and recycling programs. The machinery of all-purpose shredders consist very low sped, large and high torque shafts. This type of shredders can reduce oversized equipments to tiny or smaller pieces in just a single pass.
